Gender Equality in MMA: LMMAF VP Valeria Jalekian Leads AMMAF Women’s Commission

Gender equality is a top priority for the Olympic movement and the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (AMMAF). In line with our commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, we are proud to introduce Valeria Jalekian as the new Head of the Women’s Commission. 

Valeria, hailing from Lebanon, is the Vice President of the Lebanese MMA Federation and brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for advancing women’s participation in MMA. 
The Lebanese MMA Federation is proud to have this position represented by one of their own, further solidifying their commitment to gender equality and development in the sport. Her leadership marks a significant step forward in AMMAF’s mission to create equal opportunities and foster a supportive environment for female athletes in the sport. 

Under Valeria’s guidance, the Women’s Commission will focus on key initiatives, including:
✅ Encouraging female participation at all levels of MMA—from grassroots to professional stages.  
✅ Developing policies that promote gender equity and athlete welfare.  
✅ Providing mentorship and leadership opportunities for women in coaching, refereeing, and governance roles.  
✅ Expanding global representation, ensuring that women from all backgrounds have access to the sport.

AMMAF has always been committed to breaking barriers and ensuring that the sport of MMA is accessible to everyone, regardless of gender. With Valeria at the helm of the Women’s Commission, we are confident in the continued progress toward gender equality in the MMA community.
